the 18th of August 2004 BT announced that it is removing the distance related
limits for the most popular Brodaband services, bringing potentially more than a

and many rural UK areas which have so far been unable to

Up
until now, ADSL Brodaband has only been available within a limited
catchment area of a Brodaband enabled exchange - up to around 5.5 km. However,
on 6th September, this limitation will be removed - and you are likely to be
able to get Brodaband regardless of how far away you are from the exchange.
Although you will need to have a line test and there may still
be a few who are unable to get Brodaband, these will be in
the minority - and Brodaband-Cornwall will be striving to bring the
benefits of Brodaband to these through alternative Brodaband technologies.
What’s
more, the range for 1MB/sec premium services will be increased from 4km to
approximately 6km – making 1Mb/sec ADSL Brodaband available to 96% of homes
and businesses connected to a Brodaband exchange.
